Mr. C Seaport Hotel Manhattan

I swear the last several times I’ve booked a hotel it has been on the busiest dates ever! Half of the hotels are sold out and the rest are overpriced. The same thing happened here on this weekend visit to NYC. I usually stay at the Westin Grand Central for about $250-300 a night. This time is was over $600 as was the Marriott Marquees and W in Times Square.

So I popped on over to the American Express Fine Resort and Hotels website. Mr. C Seaport was the cheapest hotel at $490 a night. That’s what my friends paid for a Sheraton close to Times Square. And they didn’t get $100 credit or free breakfast!

I usually stay in Midtown. I know it’s touristy, but I really enjoy the shopping on 5th Avenue. I stayed at The Beekman recently and really enjoyed the area close to the World Trade Center now.

Mr. C Seaport is right down the street from the World Trade Center but on the Seaport. There’s a green market on the waterfront now and a ton of cute restaurants and bars in the Seaport. It’s really a little pocket that reminds me of Boston. Then you head west (10 minutes walking ) and you are right in the middle of the towering skyscrapers and the World Trade Center, Oculus, Brookfield Center and financial district. It’s a great area. Not to mention right by Joe’s famous Nyc pizza. The pizza place loved by Jimmy Fallon, Leo DiCaprio, JLo and a ton of other celebrities lining the walls.

The hotel is a small boutique hotel. The rooms were freshly renovated but slightly smaller than I’m used to. But we had plenty of room. The bathroom was also beautiful marble and spotless with great water pressure in the shower.

I have to say the biggest disappointment was the room service. The food was good but the staff kept forgetting stuff. They were young and a little green for a high end hotel staff.

Overall, I liked this hotel and would stay again if I wanted to be further south in Nyc
