I’ve been to Prague a few times. I’ve stayed at the fantastic Four Seasons with the ideal location and plush rooms. Then I’ve stayed at another non memorable hotel for work. But a recent contract change put us at the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle.
This hotel is set on the grounds of the medieval monastery. So it’s near the monastery and a ten minute walk to Prague Castle. There is also a tram stop five minutes from here. So although it’s near the castle site, there isn’t as much to do as staying near the old square downtown. There are a couple of restaurants nearby and the monastery. Also a couple viewspoints overlooking the city. But the big hotspots are further downtown.
So after location, the real question is how is the hotel? It says four star but I would compare it more with a three star hotel. The furniture and rooms are a little outdated and worn. The bed was average comfy and the bathroom was larger than I expected but not great water pressure.
I think the biggest thing that weighed on my mind was the fact that another crew member had found a rat on her bed. Was this urban legend or real? I moved my heavy bed away from the walls to be sure. Also don’t leave any windows open. I checked reviews online and didn’t see any rat complaints so I hope this was just a fluke. I didn’t see any evidence of any animals.
Overall, I think this hotel was just ok. I think I’d rather be closer to the central area. But if budget is an issue or your goal is to be near Prague Castle and monastery, then maybe this could be your hotel.
