Grato Restaurant London

If you are in London, you have to come to Grato. I know I know, Italian food in London, Yes! I go to a lot of restaurants around the world and Italian is one of my favorite cuisines.

Grato is number 127 in London. Right off Kensington High Street within 7 minutes walking from Kensington Palace. It’s small restaurant run by the owner and chef. 10 tables. Personal service. It’s got that feel of high end dining but at resonable prices.

The wine list is simple and enough range to pair superbly with dinner. I started with an aperol spritz and moved to a delightful Pinot Grigio.

I started with the burrata. I know it’s a hunk of cheese but I love it. And you can tell the quality of a restaurant based on that cheese. The cheese was so soft and fresh with delicious flavor. It paired perfectly with the lightly dressed arugula and charred cherry tomatoes. Accompanied by a crunchy toasted bread. Scrumptious.

Next came my entree, a delightful spinach gnocchi. So light and paired perfectly with a flavorful ripe red tomato sauce with a bit of carrots to make it different. It was divine.

Dessert consisted of a great tiramisu. All in all it was a fantastic five star dinner. I highly recommend this gem!

  1. I hadn’t heard of Grato before but, having read your review, will definitely check it out. I agree with your comment about the quality of its cheese telling you a lot about the restaurant – and those Spinach Gnocchi look divine. The Pumpkin Ravioli sound nice, too.
