Oakbrook, Illinois Le Meridien Hotel Review

My husband does a lot of business over in Chicago and Oakbrook, Illinois. So luckily I get to tag along 3-4 times a year to one of my favorite USA cites. In Chicago we have stayed in a few different hotels but we always seem to stay at Le Meridien in Oakbrook.

It’s got the perfect location. Same parking lot as the Oakbrook Center outdoor Mall! It’s this great outdoor mall with high end stores and restaurants. Some of my favorites include Zara, Anthropologie, Aritzia, Sephora, and J Crew. There’s also a high end salon/spa, Mario Tricoci.

The hotel itself is great. It’s been updated so it has a mix of wood floors and carpet. The lobby has a modern design and a downstairs bar and restaurant. Upstairs there is a spa and a tapas restaurant. The hotel also offers conference rooms but I haven’t seen any.

The room is standard size, 326 feet. I’ve never been upgraded to anything bigger. The only upgrades I have gotten are higher floor and concierge access and a free drink card. I don’t love any carpet in hotels anymore. Just looks worn. But here, it’s just around the bed.

The bathrooms have been updated. Unfortunately the sink area does not include a lot of room for cosmetics, but I make do. The shower and toilet are in a separate space with a door. The showers all have great pressure and really hot water. I love a good shower!

The concierge room is nice. Great views from the 9th floor, although there isn’t much to see. The breakfast is nice. All the necessities including eggs, fruit, cereal, pastries, coffees etc. Its very clean and airy.

Parking is free and they also have a complimentary shuttle to take you within a one mile radius. Of course I have used it to go to the Nordstrom Rack! Too bad no shuttle to the airport though! The hotel is roughly half hour from Ohare or Midway airport. ($35-45 Uber). And 40-45 minutes to downtown Chicago. ($40-$50 uber). All depending on time of day.

Le Meriden is a SPG hotel. Now that this hotel will be combined with Marriott points, I’m hoping to see more upgrades. The hotel price varies from $125 -$400 a night depending on availability. But it’s still a nice clean place to stay.
