Smashbox Vlada collection came out in Spring 2018 with this highly metallic collection for spring. Guess what? Most of it is on clearance now so it’s time to grab what you missed or get extras of your favorites!
I grabbed three pieces, the Be Legendary Liquid Lip in Rose Magic, Petal Metal Liquid Liner in Black Magic, and Always On Petal Metal Matte Liquid Lipstick in In Bloom. All three originally retailed for $24 each. Currently Smashbox, Sephora and Ulta have these items on sale for $16 each. I happened to wander into an Ulta in Chicago and found them all on sale for $12 each.
So what did I think, I liked them all!
The Be Legendary Liquid Lip is a cross between a gloss and lipstick. It is somewhat sticky like a gloss but not overly tacky at all. I found this to last about average lipgloss length, 5 hours. Comes off when you eat. Had no scent. Rose Magic is a richly pigmented reddish copper metallic shade. A lot of color. But it’s not so red that it screams I’m wearing red lipstick. But it’s really a great shade that you can still see color. What does that mean? My husband doesn’t love my red lipstick. Thinks it’s kinda loud and attention grabbing. But this still has enough color to see without being overly ostentatious. Loved it. The high metallic sheen was flattering. I found a lot of lighter metallic shades can come across to phony, but not this one. I found it to be just right. The formula wasn’t drying either. Overall, i recommend this product.
I also grabbed the liquid eye liner in Black Magic. My biggest problem with this item is the size, .058 oz., the handle is longer than the amount of product you get! But that being said, the liner is pretty. It’s deep black with a pink glitter/sparkle. It’s not a chunky glitter but very refined. I wore this full strength on the top lash line and then used a dab on my lower lash line and spread the formula with a small brush. The micro glitter did slightly get in my eye. I don’t wear contacts anymore but i understand this might me a deal breaker for those who do wear contacts. The liner lasted all day without smudging in the south Florida heat. You don’t really see too much of the sparkle on the eye though. I can only see it up close. But in certain light you can get a glimpse of the metallic. The brush is a thin marker type fine point. Very easy to use.
Finally I grabbed the Always On Petal Matte lipstick. I picked In Bloom, a metallic light pink rose shade. You can’t even feel it on the lips when it dries, it’s so lightweight. And it’s not sticky or drying on the lips. However, I did want to add a lip balm because I need something moisturizing on my lips. The metallic sheen is very metallic. This one does look a little fake and unnatural. It lasts until you eat, 4 to 5 hours. There is also no scent.
the colors go from left to right starting with the Be Legendary Lip in Rose Magic and then liner and finally In Bloom. The second picture really shows how much red copper shows up in the first color.
A lot of reviewers also posted about the cute rose on top of the packaging. I took a photo for those who may want to see it.
I would definitely grab some of these items if you catch them on sale!
