I finally made it to Nordstrom for the Anniversary Sale. I placed two huge orders online while I was in Scotland. I can’t wait to get them. But I finally made it in to the store today. My store was sadly missing a lot of the items online. Next year, I’m going to Seattle to the flagship store where you can actually see every item.
I managed to try on a few items that I wanted to try and a few popular items I’ve noticed other fashion bloggers raving about. I also got to try on a few items I ordered. Some are already going back.
For reference, I’m a pear shaped size 8, 140 pounds. A lot of items did not look like they did in the catalog on size 0 models. When I’m home my staple outfit is usually gym clothes. When I’m traveling, I usually wear something comfortable that I can wear the whole day. I don’t buy a lot of high heels anymore or dress clothes. Let’s take a peek at my dressing room winners and losers.
First off, the winners today.
Since I travel a lot, I’m always on the lookout for a great packable warm jacket. This wasn’t on my radar online, but it looked light weight in store. Overall, I liked the fit and length. Long enough to cover my derrière. I picked up a medium. On sale for $159.90, full price is $230.00.
I also loved the AG skinny jeans. I usually pick up Paige denim or Joe’s Jeans. I am not a fan of high rise or ripped jeans. I have a few pairs of ripped jeans, but for travel I prefer a pair that isn’t questioned for some restaurants/churches. I got to size down in the AG to a 28. Loving them so far. Sale price $159.90, after sale $225.
I am also obsessed with the Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Light Circle Cardigan. I picked up two of these. One in Black Heather and back ordered the Stone in Medium. There were a lot of cardigans featured in the Anniversary Sale but I thought last year’s selection was better. I tried on several cardigans and most had a pocket which really added some unnecessary weight to my frame or I didn’t like the fabrication. They just seemed big and bulky and unflattering. The Barefoot Dreams is soft and comfortable. I have a black one from two years ago that’s still going strong. Sale price is $79.90, full price retails for $116.
I also picked up the Caslon Thermal Henley. My store only had the Purple Fragrant in my size. I grabbed a medium as I like the length to be a little longer. The small size fit better through the torso but I prefer length. Sale price is $39.90 and price after the sale is $59.
Last second I grabbed another pair of Zella live in leggings. I’ve been wearing these for the past several years. Everyone raves about LuLuLemon but these are half the price and similar quality. They really suck you in. But they do fade over time. Grabbed a medium. Sale price is $35.90, after sale $54.
I also picked up the Caslon Plaid Shirt in Ivory Purple Gaston Plaid, on sale for $44.90. This year had several plaid shirts again, but I liked the colors and length. I felt the BP plaid shirt looked a little cheap. But I loved my shirt last year from BP.
My final clothing purchase for the day was the simple B.P. raw edge T-shirt in the black and white stripe. My store was already out of the staple colors like black and white. On sale for $11.90.
I liked my core picks in store but still anxiously awaiting my two online orders. But what’s most entertaining about this blog post is the misses. Take a look at what just looked awful on me.
The Leith Tie front pants. Clearly designed for the skinny. The TopShop LongLine Open Front Cardigan. Madewell Ryder Cardigan. Bad pocket placement. Leith Boxy Cardigan, cheap fabric that already had pulls in the fabric. The JCrew Olga Boiled Wool TopCoat. I tried on the yellow but I purchased the Wrap coat instead. This wasn’t a bad coat, i just found another coat I preferred. Well, minus the color. The yellow is very bold, The Caslon Colorblocked Camo Baseball Tee was ill fitting on my frame. The Zella Wrap Sweater was also a miss. The twisted front pieces were awkward and added bulk to my frame. The Caslon skinny pants in pink looked awful.

My store’s shoe collection was sadly lacking, My store didn’t have any boots over mid calf which was disappointing. It barely had any booties either. I’m looking forward to my online sale purchases.
Finally, I grabbed the Skin, Inc Optimizer Voyage Light Trio. I’ll have to start using this and post a separate review.
Overall, I wish I headed to Seattle to see all the Anniversary Sale items. But I’m looking forward to receiving my two online orders. I will also check back on July 20 when the Anniversary Sale items are available to the public to see if any of the sold out items return.
*ugh my links don’t work after I spent all this time on them. Will have to try and figure out how to add links”
